As the Freedom of Information Act and Open Meetings Act continue to evolve, this program serves to provide attorneys in both the public and private sector with relevant and important information regarding both Acts. With many exceptions available under FOIA, presenters will discuss issues related to preliminary drafts, notes, recommendations, and other records in which opinions are formulated. Additionally, many municipalities have incorporated the use of body cameras with their respective police departments.

This seminar will take a look at how these cameras were implemented in jurisdictions and how municipalities respond to FOIA requests for camera footage. Finally, the Illinois Public Access Counselor will provide a comprehensive overview of recent opinions and what they mean to those who utilize FOIA and OMA.
